Femi Kuti is a famous Nigerian singer. He is the son another famous Nigerian singer, Fela Kuti. Both father and son are known not only for their music, but also for their political activism. Like many artists, they have used their music to raise awareness of social and political issues. Femi Kuti sings about issues like corruption, poverty and poor living conditions of many Nigerians. Therefore, it is unsurprising that his band is called ' The Positive Force Band'. Although Femi is very popular in Nigeria and internationally, he has never won a Grammy Award. The Grammy Awards ( of the United States of America) are considered to be the most important popular music awards for artists who compete internationally. At home, though, Femi has won a Headies Hall Of Fame Award, and is a presenter on Nigerian Idol. In 2014, Femi signed with a new record label, called Chocolate City Music. Perhaps his next album will win him the international recognition he deserves.
