Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow.

Okonkwo wanted to ask his son why he was so anxious to see his mother back from market; why he had to wait outside the compound with eerie shadows instead of sitting in the cosiness of their sitting room. But he knew the questions were needless. The answer was just too obvious. Chuka was hungry. The boy was not to be blamed for being anxious. Hunger is nobody's friend. So he remained silent. Soon again he beçame lost in thought. Chuka stood at the door looking at him. 'Papa what are you thinking about?' The boy cut through his thoughts. He had forgotten that the boy was in the room. He steered his gaze to the boy. Chuka was only thirteen but had the wisdom of an adult. It never ceased to astonish Okonkwo whenever the boy displayed those rare traits. He was a precocious child, obedient and humble. He never ceased to observe things that happen around him. 'My son, there is so much to think about .....' Okonkwo said, ' why do you always think? For the past days I've been watching you. You have been thinking.'
